Privacy Policy
Big If True ("the app") is operated by Andy Wang ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app collects, why, and who it's shared with. Questions: pea-sawdust.1w@icloud.com.
The short version
- You don't create an account. The app signs you in anonymously.
- Recordings are sent to Google's Gemini AI service to be fact-checked. We don't store the audio.
- We store the results: topic, player names, the claims the AI found and the verdict.
- Free users see ads from Google AdMob. With your permission, AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier.
- We never sell your data.
What we collect
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Audio recordings of your debate, including the voices of everyone in it | To fact-check and score the debate. The audio is uploaded to our server, sent to Google Gemini for analysis and then discarded. We don't save it. A copy stays on your phone so you can retry a failed match. |
| Match results: the topic, both player names, the claims and fallacies the AI identified (including short quotes or paraphrases of what was said), scores, verdict and recording length | To show you your results, receipts and head-to-head history. |
| An anonymous user ID created when you first open the app | To tie your matches and purchases to you without an email or name. |
| Usage data: in-app events such as topic chosen, match completed or failed, and the app version | To fix bugs and understand which features are used. |
| Purchase records: product, Apple transaction ID and expiry date | To grant and restore the Pass and Remove Ads. Apple processes payment. We never see your card details. |
| Advertising data (free tier only): device advertising identifier if you allow tracking, plus ad interactions | To show ads and reward watched ads. This is collected by Google AdMob, not by us. |
Third parties
- Google Gemini API: receives each recording, the topic and player names to produce the fact-check. We use Google's paid API, under which Google does not use the content to train its models. Google keeps prompts and responses for a limited time, only to detect and prevent misuse of its services. See Gemini API terms.
- Google AdMob: serves ads to free users. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
- Supabase: hosts our database and server functions.
- Apple: processes in-app purchases and subscriptions.
We share data only with these providers, for the purposes above, or when the law requires it.
Tracking and consent
The app asks for permission to track through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, AdMob shows non-personalised ads and doesn't receive your advertising identifier. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Before each recording, the app asks you to confirm that everyone being recorded agrees to it. Only record people who have agreed.
Retention and deletion
Audio is not kept after analysis. Match results, usage data and purchase records are kept while your account exists. To delete everything tied to your account, email pea-sawdust.1w@icloud.com and we'll do it within 30 days. Deleting the app removes local recordings and your anonymous sign-in. Server data stays until you ask us to delete it.
Children
The app is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect data from minors. If you think a minor has used the app, contact us and we'll delete their data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, or to object to its processing. Email us to exercise any of these rights.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above. For significant changes we'll also tell you in the app.
